UPE/ACM chapter officers Jason Baker, Mallory Cosfol and Scott Hine, spent many hours on two Saturdays to hand-paint two beautiful wall murals with computer science and mathematics motifs. The walls look great and we are planning to have a dedication ceremony soon!

The guest speaker at the first UPE/ACM talk of 2008 was our very own Patrick Stump (B.S. in Computer Sceince, '02), a Database Specialist and Senior Scientist at GSK. Pat's very interesting and informative talk was on the significance of database normalization when creating new drugs.

UPE/ACM Chapter celebrated the 55th birthday of MANIAC, the computer! There was pizza and cake, and our very own Dr. Klingsberg played the guitar and sang songs from the Beatles and CSN. Our graduate student Chaitanya also proved to be a capable guitar player.
Kudos to Jason, our UPE/ACM Chapter president for all his hard work and careful planning.
